Facilities of the Basque Country's Mining Museum, located in Gallarta (Abanto Zierbena), were inaugurated on January the 12th. The said installations have a whole area of 6000 m2 and they include the old slaughterhouse of the location (rehabilitated for use as museum) with about 550 m2 useful.

At this social event attended, together with some Association's representatives, the Mayor of the town Juanjo Mezkorta, the General Deputy for Bizkaia, Josu Bergara, the Culture Consultant of Basque Government Miren Azkarate, the Culture Member of the Bizkaia's Foral Deputation and the Rector of the Basque Public University Manuel Montero, besides other Mayors of the Mining Zone. The Happening was covered by several communication media.

After the ceremony, it was proceeded to inaugurate the itinerant exposure: "Mining in the Basque Country: Industrial and Cultural Patrimony", that could be visited until April 8, in these installations. In the showing it is explained the significance of the cultural patrimony of the mining through the exhibition of some elements recovered by the Association, an audio-visual report about the mining history and some informative panels. It is only a small testimony of the materials belonging to the Museum and that are part of the mining legacy in the zone, that will be enjoyed in other places of the Basque Country since Spring.

It is hoped the definitive inauguration of the museum exposition could take place along the next Autumn.
